Heroic Tale of the Red Dragon: Exiled hero begins his retired life
Heroic Tale of the Red Dragon: Exiled hero begins his retired life
Bergiculd.
Spring of the year 937.
Among the countless states within the continent
of Byuric, there existed a rather mediocre country called Sanchest Kingdom,
which held no particular strengths to itself.
In addition, it was located at the border to the Great Empire of Barberus.
In terms of sheer size of the land scale, the Barberus Empire was as three times as larger than the Sanchest Kingdom. And their military power was also three times as extensive.
As such, the borders of the Kingdom were inevitably invaded every year.
Even so, the Great Empire was still unable to
conquer the lands of Sanchests for over a decade for one single reason.
And that reason was known to many… the infamous magic corps of the Kingdom of Sanchest. They were known to be the strongest magic-based military force among all the neighboring states.
They went by the name, Fire Dragon Magic Corp.
Fire Dragon Magic Corp only held about 100 members. They operated as an independent military unit that freely roamed across the fierce, chaotic battlefields. Although they were severely outnumbered in each direction, yet they came out victorious every time, leaving behind a path of glorious achievements in their wake.
Fire Dragon Magic Corp
The mere mention of their name would leave even a Chief of commands of an opposing state, trembling anxiously while dripping with cold sweat. The outpouring anxiety would cause many to desert the battlefield from the get-go.
The common word among the military authorities
of neighboring nations was to stay as furthest away from the Fire Dragon Magic
Corps as possible.
Consequently, the Fire Dragon Magic Corps was highly accredited by their own country… and the people of Sanchest… so much so that they were considered to be the heroes of the kingdom.
While each among the 100 personnel within the Fire Dragon Magic Crops were a force of their own, the three Deputy Captains were known to be a menace.
Hourt Von Aubert.
The best spear-man among the army corps.
He imbued various kinds of elemental magic, fire wind and the like, to the tip of the spear before impaling the enemy hordes with a single thrust
Allison Boltre.
The master of thousand spells.
Even though she was capable of offensive spells;
She opted to create over a thousand golems to shield all her allies from the enemy attacks while tending to the wounded with healing magic.
Larsen Stein.
As a former bandit he was quite capable in traps and espionage. Making use of that knowledge while employing magic into their midst, he was able to disrupt the march of the enemy troops rather easily.
If one had to point out one common flaw among the three Deputy Captains, it’d be that they were too eccentric.
The man who kept these eccentric trio under
control and the same man who had built their unit from the ground up, he
was leader of the Fire Dragon Magic Crops, Allen Shepard.
It was a well-known fact that he was a half elf, a mixture of Human and the long lived Elven race.
Although his ears were blunt, he possessed the
characteristic silvery white hair of the Eleven race. He was a man in his late
40s who appeared to be a teen-aged boy with his outer appearance.
While the abilities for the Deputy Captain’s were known far and wide, not much was known about the capabilities of their leader.
Thus, many were puzzled as to why he sat in the
position of leader while these three highly capable deputies stood under his
command.
Nevertheless, Allen was undeniably the Commander of Fire Dragon Magic Crop, those who were exalted as the heroes of the Sanchest Kingdom.
However, something seemed different that day.
There was a carriage heading down on the road that led directly towards the eastern gate of the Sanchest Kingdom, the Walls of Benadice.
Inside the carriage, was a man with a burlap sack over his face and shackled on both his hands and feet.
He was surrounded by a band of six men in steel armor along with one donned in gold plate armor.
“Luberg-sama, this guy… was he really leaking details of our defense intelligence to the enemies?”
A man in steel armor with shaved brown hair asked, as he turned towards the man wearing the gold plate armor… Luberg.
Luberg nodded in response.
“Yeah, that’s right. He made some real cash
selling our defense information out of the country. That was the reason why we
were invaded by the empire and other neighboring countries every year. He
should have been beheaded for treason but… I heard he was pardoned to be just
exiled from the kingdom.”
“No way, that is outrageous… amnesty for a traitor?”
“... It’s already been decided. You mustn’t question the King’s verdict.”
“Uh, I-I’m sorry. I beg your pardon.”
“I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that.”
“Thank you very much.”
“Well… he’s a damned traitor after all, I also had some misgivings about this decision.”
“I-isn’t that right? But I can understand why they decided to transport him under such a strict guard”
“That’s good to hear. Hmm, looks like we’ve reached the Benadice Walls.”
Just as Luberg said, their carriage had already reached the Walls of Benadice.
After proceeding through some formalities, the gates of the walls were finally opened… and the carriage moved ahead, passing through the borders of the country.
Carriage came to a halt just a little further
from the gates. The carriage door opened as the man with a burlap sack over his
head was kicked outside by the men donned in steel armor.
“Traitor!”
“Get the hell out of our Sanchest Kingdom!”
“Don’t ever think of returning, you filthy traitor!”
“Drop dead you filthy rat!”
“Just die!”
“Leave and never step a foot inside Sanchest Kingdom ever again!”
Witnessing the pathetic sight of the man with the burlap sack being kicked out to the ground by the band of men in steel armor, Luberg chuckled inside.
Then he slowly approached the man with the burlap sack over his head. Luberg wore a bold smile as he looked down upon him and whispered softly.
“The half-elf hero they said… Allen, you truly deserved it.”
Luberg ripped the burlap sack off of the man… Allen’s head.
He appeared to be in his mid teens.
Slightly droopy eyes with well-refined facial features.
Despite his youthful and cutesy appearance, he still had the markings of a handsome youth. One would think that in 5 years or so, he would undoubtedly turn into someone who could turn the heads of many women regardless of their age.
His peculiar silver hair was so beautiful that it seemed to shine even under such circumstances.
He was about 5’5” tall, with a slender yet well trained body by the looks of the protruding muscles peeking from underneath his light clothing.
“...”
“Hmm”
With the burlap sack suddenly taken off from his head, Allen seemed to be rather startled. He simply looked around without a word. Seeing this, Luberg snorted and removed the cuffs on his hands.
Afterwards, Luberg along with the men clad in steel armor hurried back inside the carriage and retreated back into the walls through the gates.
Allen slowly opened his mouth while watching the hurriedly departing carriage.
“So I can finally use my ears and mouth after
the shackles are removed huh?”
Allen looked around as he rubbed his wrists, which still bore the marks of the shackles.
Then he tilted his head in confusion.
“This is… Benadice Wall? What’s going on? Why am I here?”
Yes… he was banished from the Kingdom.
He, Allen Shepard, the leader of the Fire Dragon
Magic Corp, one of the heroes of the Kingdom of Sanchest, had just been exiled.
How did it get to this point you ask? It all began four days ago.
Hope you enjoy the new teaser!
